Decks & Pergolas Built Around the Way You Live
Covenant Renovation builds custom outdoor structures that give homeowners more room to relax, entertain, gather, and enjoy their property.
What we build
One craft, many kinds of structures
Every project below is custom outdoor carpentry — framed, fastened, and finished the same careful way, whether it's a deck off the back door or a treehouse in the oak.
Custom Decks
A deck designed around your yard, your grade, and how you actually use the back of the house — single level, multi-level, or wrapped around a corner.
Deck Replacements
When boards are cupping, framing is soft, or railings feel loose, we rebuild the structure properly instead of patching over problems.
Deck Extensions
Already have a deck that's just a little too small? We extend the footprint, add landings, stairs, or a second level to fit more of your life outside.
Pergolas
Shade and definition over a deck, patio, or seating area — built as a real structure with posts, beams, and connections detailed to last.
Treehouses
Custom treehouses built around the tree and the yard you already have, with decking, railings, and access designed for the space.
Custom Playgrounds
Backyard play structures built from real lumber — platforms, climbing access, swings, and slides laid out to fit your yard.
Custom Outdoor Wood Structures
Pavilions, covered seating, privacy screens, storage structures, and fencing with gates — the outdoor carpentry that ties a property together.

For the family
Treehouses & Custom Playgrounds
Some of our favorite projects are the ones built for kids. A treehouse tucked into the trees you already have. A play structure sized to your yard instead of a box from the store. These are custom outdoor spaces designed for families — built with real lumber, planned around the space, and detailed with the same care as the rest of our work.
- Treehouses designed around your specific trees and yard
- Platforms, ladders, railings, swings, and slides
- Layouts planned around your kids' ages and how they play
- Built from real lumber and finished cleanly

FAQ
Questions homeowners ask
What materials do you build decks with?
We build with pressure-treated lumber, cedar, and composite decking. Which one makes sense depends on your budget, the look you want, and how much maintenance you'd like to take on. We'll walk through the options during your estimate.
Can you replace just the deck boards, or does the whole deck need to go?
It depends on the condition of the framing and footings underneath. If the structure is sound, re-decking is often an option. If it isn't, we'll show you what we're seeing and explain why.
How long does a deck or pergola project take?
Timelines vary with size, design, materials, and weather. We give you a realistic schedule for your specific project before work starts rather than a blanket estimate.
Do these projects need a permit?
Permit requirements vary by city and county across the Birmingham metro, and by the size and type of structure. We'll talk through what your specific project and jurisdiction require.
What does a deck or pergola cost?
Cost depends on size, height, materials, railing, stairs, and site conditions. We don't quote generic prices — we'll give you a free written estimate for your project.
Can you build a treehouse in my yard?
In many cases, yes. It depends on the tree or trees involved, the space around them, and what you're hoping to build. We'll look at the site and tell you honestly what's workable.
Do you build playgrounds and play structures?
Yes. We build custom wood play structures — platforms, climbing access, swings, and slides — laid out to fit your yard and your kids' ages.
Do you also build fences?
Yes. Privacy, picket, and custom fencing with gates is part of the outdoor carpentry we do, and it's often built alongside a deck or pergola project.
Do you work outside Birmingham?
We serve homeowners across the Birmingham metro, including Hoover, Vestavia Hills, Mountain Brook, Homewood, Trussville, and surrounding communities.
