Patios & Outdoor Kitchens
Patios & Outdoor Kitchens Built for Gathering
Create an outdoor space where you can cook, relax, entertain, and spend more time with the people you love.
What we build
Ground-level outdoor living
Unlike decks and pergolas — which are elevated, framed structures — this work is about the flat, usable space where people gather: patios, kitchens, covers, seating, and entertainment areas designed as one connected backyard.
Custom Patios
A ground-level patio designed for how you live — grilling, dining, lounging, or all three — built on a proper base so it stays level and drains.
Outdoor Kitchens
Built-in grills, countertops, storage, sinks, and refrigeration arranged into a cooking space that works as well as your indoor kitchen.
Outdoor Cooking Areas
Grill surrounds, pizza ovens, smokers, and prep stations that keep the cook part of the party instead of isolated from it.
Covered Outdoor Spaces
Patio covers and roofs that extend the season, block the afternoon sun, and keep the gathering going when the weather changes.
Outdoor Entertainment Areas
Spaces laid out for hosting — seating walls, fire features, TVs, lighting, and sightlines that make the backyard feel like another room.
Seating & Gathering Spaces
Built-in benches, seating walls, dining nooks, and lounge areas sized for the people you actually gather with.
Patio Improvements
Extensions, resurfacing, drainage fixes, lighting, and upgrades that make an existing patio more usable and easier to enjoy.
Designed to work together
Better together
The best outdoor living spaces combine several features into one plan. Here are a few of the combinations we design and build most often.
Patio + Outdoor Kitchen
A patio becomes the heart of the backyard when it includes a place to cook. We lay out the kitchen so the grill, prep space, and traffic flow work together while guests relax nearby.
Patio + Covered Area
A roof over part of the patio gives you shade in July and shelter in October. The covered section becomes the everyday hangout; the open patio keeps the sun and the sky.
Patio + Pergola
A pergola adds definition and filtered shade without fully enclosing the space. It's a simple way to create a dining or lounge zone within a larger patio.
Patio + Entertainment Area
Fire pit, seating wall, lighting, and outdoor TV wired in — the patio turns into a place people gather after dinner and stay until the fire dies down.

From idea to invitation
A simple, four-step process that keeps your project moving from the first conversation to the first cookout.
Imagine the Space
Tell us how you'd like to use your backyard — cooking, dining, entertaining, or just relaxing — and what's missing right now.
Plan the Project
We walk the site, talk through layout, materials, utilities, and features, and build a plan that fits your yard and budget.
Build It
From grading and base work to finishes, we handle the construction and keep you updated as the space comes together.
Enjoy It
We clean up the site, walk the finished project with you, and hand over a space ready for your first gathering.
Why Covenant Renovation
Built around your backyard and your people
We design patios and outdoor kitchens as gathering spaces first. The materials and construction matter, but the real measure of success is whether you want to spend time there.
Built for gathering
Every decision — layout, flow, seating, cooking — is planned around how people actually spend time together outside.
Solid prep and drainage
A patio is only as good as what's underneath. We handle grading, base, and drainage so the surface stays usable.
Clear communication
You'll know the schedule, what's next, and who to call when questions come up.
Respect for your home
We protect the yard, keep the work area clean, and leave the site ready for you to use.
Tailored to your needs
No two backyards or households are the same. The design is built around your space and how you live.
Questions & answers
Frequently asked questions
- What patio materials do you work with?
- We build with pavers, natural stone, stamped concrete, and concrete slabs depending on the look, budget, and how the space will be used. We'll walk through the options during your estimate.
- What can an outdoor kitchen include?
- Outdoor kitchens can range from a simple grill surround with counter space to a full setup with sink, refrigerator, storage, and built-in appliances. We plan around your cooking style and utility access.
- Do you install countertops and grills?
- Yes. We build the structure, countertops, and grill surround, and coordinate appliance installation. Granite, concrete, and tile are common countertop choices for outdoor kitchens.
- Can you add a pizza oven or smoker?
- Yes. Pizza ovens, smokers, and other outdoor cooking features can be built into the kitchen layout or installed as standalone features on the patio.
- Do you add sinks to outdoor kitchens?
- Yes, when plumbing is available or can be run to the location. We coordinate the plumbing so the sink is functional and properly drained.
- How long does a patio or outdoor kitchen project take?
- Timelines depend on size, materials, utilities, and weather. We give you a realistic schedule for your specific project before work starts.
- Do these projects require a permit?
- Permit requirements vary by city and county across the Birmingham metro, and by the scope of the project. We'll explain what your specific project and jurisdiction require.
- How much does a patio or outdoor kitchen cost?
- Cost depends on size, materials, features, utilities, and site conditions. We don't quote generic prices — we'll provide a free written estimate for your project.
- Can you add a covered area over an existing patio?
- Often yes. We evaluate the existing slab, footings, and roof connection to make sure a cover can be added safely and properly.
